Personal, Social, Health Education (including RSE)

In our Partnership we deliver a PSHE curriculum which enables pupils to make informed decisions about their wellbeing, health and relationships. As a Partnership we are mindful and respectful of a wide variety of faith and cultural beliefs. We provide a balanced and broad- based curriculum which promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of children at school and in society. This prepares our children for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences they may have later in life. We aim to give children the information they need to make good decisions about their own health and well being.

Implementation

During weekly whole class PSHE sessions, children are encouraged to discuss emotional, social, cultural issues and values. Children will have access to the learning they need to stay safe, healthy and understand their rights as individuals. This will include clear, impartial, scientific and factual information on matters such as; naming body parts, puberty, the variety of family structures, LGBTQ+, gender identity, gender equality, and sexuality.

Children will be taught the different types of relationship; friendship, family, online, caring and respectful relationships. The delivery of PSHE is based on the Coram Life Education SCARF scheme; teachers use the SCARF resources which encompass learning about Safety, Caring, Achievement, Resilience and Friendship. Relationship education incorporates the development of self esteem and relationships therefore children’s learning will not just take place in taught lesson time but throughout all aspects of school life, including in Forest School and at playtimes.
