Welcome to Orleigh Class!
Orleigh class is led by Class Teacher Miss Shorney and Preschool Leader Mrs Powe. The class has Preschool, Reception and Year 1 children.
Welcome to Buckland Brewer Foundation Stage Unit
We are fortunate to offer a rich play-based curriculum here in Orleigh Class for children from 3 to 6yrs, which provides opportunities for children to learn and develop together as a whole class, as well as though smaller, targeted groups.
At Buckland Brewer we adopt a holistic approach to learning, where through a connected curriculum the children are able to make links between subjects and areas of learning. Topics are chosen to allow the children to really immerse themselves in learning, and these topics are chosen to allow Y1 and Reception to both be immersed in the learning environment together.
Both Parkham and Buckland Brewer Primary School offer high quality foundation units catering for 3-5 year olds. . Each Unit offers 8.45am am to 3.10pm provision all week (except for Friday afternoon) and admits children in the half term in which they turn 3. Children are only eligible for the 3 year olds 15 hour funding from the term after they turn 3. So if your child starts in the half term in which they turn 3 you will be invoiced for these hours until the term after they turn 3.
Some 3 year olds who are using their 15 hours education funding are also eligible for Early Years Pupil Premium. Click here for more details. The school periodically sends out registration forms to check eligibility for Early Years Pupil Premium and School Age Pupil Premium, but if you think you might qualify please ask the school for a registration form, or download one from the links.
Please contact the school for more information and update to date times and charges and also a look around the unit.
Please see details below for further information or contact the schools. We highly recommend a visit to the units to see the high quality environment and care provided.
In their Reception year, the children have access to a shared continuous provision (Learning environment) with Y1 and Preschool, which allows the children to learn through play-based activity and exploration. The children in Reception will take part in daily phonics sessions, as well as whole group literacy, maths, and targeted group work. The children will learn through a connected curriculum and follow the same topics as Year 1.
In Year 1 the children have the opportunity to access the continuous provision, in addition to their National Curriculum learning. The children in Year 1 will have the chance to choose their own learning, follow challenges, and really consolidate their newly learnt skills and knowledge.
