Welcome Pack for the Village Schools Partnership

Thank you for your interest in a place for your child with the Village Schools Partnership.

The Partnership is a new federation of schools which formed in Spring 2022 and is made up of Buckland Brewer, Parkham and Woolsery Primary Schools. Our Partnership is passionate about rural education, located in the heart of the community which each school serves: Village Schools.

Across the three schools, we are responsible for around 270 children – a responsibility we take very seriously. Our core beliefs of quality, first-hand learning experiences, instilling a secure understanding of the wider world and a deep love of heritage and outdoor learning are the cornerstones of what we do.

Our three schools are very different in character: a diversity which we celebrate and encourage. Buckland Brewer is the smallest of our three schools with a capacity of 49 children (although we’re currently a little over that number), Parkham is in the middle, both in terms of capacity (57 children) and geography, whilst Woolsery is the largest school with a capacity of 140 children.

By belonging to our Partnership, all three schools can benefit from the expertise held within a much larger staff body and resources to match, whilst retaining the small, family feel which is a fundamental part of village school life.

We also very much value your contribution to our schools as parents. You can get involved by volunteering for things like Forest School, or by joining in with our PTAs: The Friends of Buckland Brewer School (FOBBS), The Friends of Parkham School (FOPS) or The Friends of Woolsery School (FOWS) – please ask in each school about how to get in touch. Anything you can help with will benefit the experience of all the children in your child’s school and will be warmly welcomed.

We are the Village Schools Partnership: Small Schools – Big Futures! Welcome.
